Historical relic and scenic spots of Tay Thien

Historical relic and scenic spot of Tay Thien - Tam Dao is located in Dai Dinh commune, Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province. Located on the slopes of Thach Ban Mountain in the Tam Dao range with the length of 11km, the width of 1km, this place is the complex of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots, including the system communal houses and pagodas of cultural and archaeological value such as Thuong temple, Thong temple, Mau temple, Cau temple, Co temple... This spot concentrates a large density of old traces as well as cultural works, valuable archaeological research sites hidden under the old forests along Tay Thien streams... Therefore, this not only attracts tourists to enjoy the sceneries but also is the symbol of the spirit and belief life in Viet Nam. The archaeological discoveries in the Tay Thien area are the proofs of the existence of the monument lasting from the XIII - XIV centuries to the XIX - XX centuries.

Tam Dao - Da Lat of the North

Considered as Da Lat of the North, Tam Dao is the familiar destination for domestic and foreign tourists. Tam Dao has a majestic mountain landscape, covers a large area, has a cool climate all year round with an average temperature of 180C – 250C. In the summer (May to September), while the temperature in the delta provinces is about 270C – 380C, Tam Dao is the ideal resort with a clear rotation of four seasons in one day: spring in the mornings, the heat of the summer in the noon, the autumn in the afternoon, and the cold of the winter in the evening.

The name “Tam Dao” originates from the three high mountains of Thach Ban (1,388m), Thien Thi (1,375m) and Phu Nghia (1,400m). Hidden behind the clouds on the top of the mountain, there are beautiful, luxurious villas. They are nearly 100 years old and have harmonious architecture among the overlapping forests and deep valley.

Having the naturally wonderful landscape, Tam Dao is the ideal place for tourists who love the nature and want to rest after tiring working days. When visiting Tam Dao, tourists should enjoy many delicious dishes of this land by participating in Tam Dao night market!

Truc Lam Tay Thien Zen Monastery

This place is known as the origin of Vietnamese Buddhism and is one of the three largest monasteries in Viet Nam. The monastery is located in the middle of a high mountain, surrounded by mountains, clouds and trees. Standing there, people can enjoy a very poetic and beautiful scene; the fog covers the mountains... Visiting Truc Lam Tay Thien Zen Monastery, visitors can not only enjoy the majestic natural scenery, fresh air, and unique architecture, but also feel the tranquility and peace of mind.

Tam Dao National Park

Tam Dao National Park is located entirely on the Tam Dao mountain range, stretching more than 80 km across the three provinces of Vinh Phuc, Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang. Being far about 75 km from Ha Noi, the Park known as the natural green lung is the largest ecological forest in the North. It is in the area of about 32.3 thousand hectares, of which 15.2 thousand hectares belong to Vinh Phuc province.

Tam Dao has sharp peaks, very steep slopes of the East and West that create the area different climates, temperatures, and rainfall. Therefore, the ecosystem is extremely diverse there being the home for multi-layered, luxuriant vegetations and many kinds of animals. According to the statistics, in Tam Dao, there are more than 1,100 animal species belonging to 156 families of 39 orders, of which 28 species are prioritized for the conservation in the country and in the world such as big loris, small loris, red-faced monkey, yellow monkey, wildcat, deer, civet, toad-fish... In terms of flora, the Park has over 1,280 species of 660 genera belonging to 179 families of higher vascular plants, including 42 endemic and 64 rare species that need to be preserved and protected (Slipper orchid, camellia chrysantha, dendrobium, anoectochilus setaceus, amentotaxus argotaenia, podophyllum tonkinense, nageia fleuryi, tacca chantrieri…)

Tam Dao National Park plays an important role in protecting the environment, balancing the ecosystem, providing oxygen for the surrounding plains in the context that the air is increasingly polluted due to exhaust emission from industrial parks; regulating and supplying water for downstream areas, especially 17 communes of Thai Nguyen and Vinh Phuc living around the foot-hills. The Park not only provides forest products, medicinal herbs but also is a place for scientific research of domestic and international experts because it reserves, preserves, restores rare, precious plant and animal genetic resources of Viet Nam. In addition, Vinh Phuc has now opened a large tourist area in Tam Dao National Park to serve domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to promote the tourism development and diversify of the locality.

Binh Son Tower - The pinnacle of terracotta decorative arts

Binh Son tower was built during the Tran dynasty, located in the campus of Vinh Khanh pagoda, Binh Son village, Tam Son town, Song Lo district. This is a typical tower for the architecture of pagodas and towers of the Ly - Tran dynasties in Vietnam and is the tallest terracotta tower of the Tran dynasty remaining so far, with unique and creative architecture, converging the quintessence culture of tangible and intangible traditions of Viet Nam.

The architectural and artistic monument of Binh Son Tower was built at the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century. It is a large-scale calcination tower, decorated with diverse patterns, unique features in architecture, fine arts, construction techniques, reaching the pinnacle of Vietnamese terracotta decorative art. In 2016, Binh Son tower was ranked as a special national relic.

Dai Lai Lake

Dai Lai Lake in Vinh Phuc is located in Ngoc Thanh commune and Dong Xuan ward, Phuc Yen city, far about 50 km from Ha Noi to the North. This is an artificial freshwater lake that was built in 1959 for the initial purpose of agriculture and flood discharge. However, because of the beautiful scenery, Dai Lai Lake has been gradually exploited for tourism.

In the midst of hills and forests, the immense blue Dai Lai Lake appears like a precious jewel, reflecting the clouds and sky all year round. Visiting Dai Lai, people enter a peaceful, green and romantic private world. There, visitors can go for a walk, enjoy the scenery, take a boat trip, go fishing, climb the mountains, walk in the pine forests, swim in the cool water, visit the village of San Diu ethnic group, enjoy to Soong co singing, taste special dishes…

Eco-tourism area - Hai Luu stork garden

Hai Luu stork garden is a remnant of the former Hai Luu forest, protected and managed by a family in the village. Birds and storks started to nest in 1958

Hai Luu stork garden has an important and attractive flora and fauna resource of Lap Thach district and Vinh Phuc province. Some species of birds and storks there are dominant in genetic diversity, including fire storks, ixobrychus sinensis, ardeola bacchus, bubulcus ibis, butorides striata... The breeding season of birds depends on the rainy season, the quality of the trees in which they nest, and the source of the food. The start and end of each breeding season occurs at different times. The plants in the stork garden are abundant with many old trees, fruit trees... These favorable natural conditions attract many kinds of birds and storks. Besides, the garden is the attractive destination for tourists, the place to educate the patriotism of people, the joint of human and nature.

The Pottery Village of Huong Canh

Huong Canh pottery village, one of the ancient pottery villages in Viet Nam, has the age of more than 300 years. Huong Canh pottery is famous for many products such as jars, pots, pans, and etc. because of the high durability, water resistance, light blocking, flavor keeing. Moreover, if people use Huong Canh pottery to make tea or keep wine, the tea’s taste and temperature will be kept for a long time, the wine will be better… Visiting the village, visitors can see the process of creating ceramic products, make their own products by hand, and contemplate a variety of fine art paintings, statues…
